STOP THE WIND TURBINES ON BERRIER HILL NEAR BLENCATHRA

PUBLIC INQUIRY: Due to take place at Penrith Town Hall on Tuesday 8th. September, 2009

Due to non determination of planning permission by the Eden District Council, the applicant, Berrier Hill Wind Energy Ltd. appealed directly to the Secretary of State in respect of the proposed development of 9 wind turbines, access tracks etc. on land at Berrier Hill, Greystoke Estate, Greystoke.

The Appeal is to be decided on the basis of a Public Inquiry, and the Inspector’s decision following the hearing will be passed to the Secretary of State for the final decision.

The Inspector asked the Eden District Council to inform him/her what their decision on this application would have been, had it been determined at a Planning meeting, and on Thursday, 19th. February, the Planning Committee met and voted, unanimously, to turn it down. You will see from the letter printed right (click to enlarge), that in order to fight this application at the Public Inquiry, we are having to raise funds to engage legal representation to augment that funded by the Eden District Council, and we are appealing to our supporters, both locally and nationally, to support our endeavours.
